  • NATO leaders meeting in Turkey yesterday pledged to provide €140 billion in military aid to Ukraine to help meet the country's defense needs through 2027 amidst the ongoing Russian invasion. [more]
  • Speaking at the NATO summit in Turkey yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. will grant Ukraine a license to make Patriot air defense systems to counter missile attacks from Russia. [more]

MAINE | Following accusations of sexual assault against him, Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner announced yesterday that he was suspending his campaign and plans to withdraw from the race against Republican Senator Susan Collins. [more]

MICHIGAN | Health officials in Michigan say 992 people in the state have been diagnosed with a parasitic infection that can cause weeks of watery diarrhea. The outbreak of cyclospora infection was first announced last week, and officials say it is the largest such outbreak in state history. [more]

TRUMP VERDICT PAYMENT | Judge Eunice C. Lee of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday rejected a request by attorneys for President Donald Trump to block payment of more than $5 million to columnist E. Jean Carroll in connection with the civil jury verdict that found Trump sexually abused and defamed Carroll. Attorneys for Trump immediately appealed the decision but were denied an emergency order to block the payment from being made. [more]

KENNEDY CENTER | A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit yesterday denied a request from the Kennedy Center's board to restore President Donald Trump's name to the institution while the board appeals an earlier ruling that found the addition of Trump's name to the Center illegal and ordered it removed. NEW YORK | City health officials say investigations are ongoing into the cause of at least 36 cases of Legionnaires’ disease in an ongoing outbreak in New York City's Upper East Side neighborhoods of Carnegie Hill and Yorkville and suggest the likely source of the bacteria causing the disease is a cooling tower or towers in the area. CONGO | In their latest update, officials with the country's Ministry of Health say at least 600 people have died, and 1,759 cases have been confirmed, in the Democratic Republic of Congo's ongoing Ebola outbreak. Of note, officials say two new suspected cases of the disease were detected in Kisangani in Tshopo province, where cases had not been previously recorded. [more]

CHINA | Authorities in southern China's Guangxi region say at least 39 people have died in floods over the past few days amidst heavy rainfall from a tropical storm and the related partial collapse of a reservoir dam. [more]

AUSTRALIA AND INDIA | Under an administrative agreement signed by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, Australia will begin selling uranium to India for peaceful purposes – a process that was suspended following a 2014 agreement due to concerns that the material could be used in the production of nuclear weapons. SUDAN | International Criminal Court deputy chief prosecutor Nazhat Shameem Khan says the ICC has "concrete evidence" linking leaders of Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces to recent war crimes in the Sudanese region of Darfur. [more]

CANADA AND SAUDI ARABIA | Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Saudi Arabia today, where he is scheduled to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for trade discussions that analysts say are part of Canada's efforts to expand economic ties beyond its heavy reliance on the United States. GERMANY | According to a new report from the Robert Koch Institute for public health, Germany has recorded about 5,120 heat-related deaths this year, with most of them occurring in late June amidst a heatwave that affected much of Central Europe. [more]

U.K. | The nomination period for candidates to lead the U.K.'s governing Labour Party opens today and runs through July 16. Former Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is widely expected to be the only candidate nominated, clearing his way to replace Keir Starmer as prime minister. [more]
